Interview with Demmy Blaze

Ceo: Can we meet you?
Demmy Blaze: Yes, I am Oyebade Ademola, also known as Demmy Blaze.

Ceo: Your date of birth?
Demmy Blaze: March 16, 1990.

Ceo: Religion?
Demmy Blaze: Yes, I am a Christian.

Ceo: How did you come up with the name Demmy Blaze?
Demmy Blaze: The name Demmy Blaze comes from Demola, and Blaze represents fire, so I blaze up the stage when I get on it.

Ceo: Your state of origin?
Demmy Blaze: Ondo State, in Ondo town.

Ceo: Tell us about your profession.
Demmy Blaze: I started in 2007 backing up Danny Young and did that for close to three years before working on my personal career. My first song was titled "Alomo" featuring Danny Young, followed by "Be My Girl," which did well on TV stations. Currently, I am promoting "AYAWA" and planning to shoot a video soon. I am also rebranding my style and record label.

Ceo: Are you still in Danny Young's crew or have you permanently withdrawn?
Demmy Blaze: No, he is my brother, and we are still very much together.

Ceo: Tell us about your educational background.
Demmy Blaze: My elementary school was St. Raphael's in Ondo town, then I moved to Awosika College for secondary school. I later studied microbiology at Unilorin.

Ceo: Are you a graduate of Unilorin?
Demmy Blaze: No, I paused my schooling to focus on music, but I plan to resume after my UK tour.

Ceo: Are you traveling abroad soon for a music tour?
Demmy Blaze: Yes, I am.

Ceo: What is your position in the family?
Demmy Blaze: I am the fourth in a family of five.

Ceo: Are you the only male in the family?
Demmy Blaze: No, we have only one female, who is the last born.

Ceo: Are you married?
Demmy Blaze: Oh, I wouldn't like to talk about that, but I love every lady out there. So, I am married to all of them.

Ceo: Any serious relationship?
Demmy Blaze: That's complicated. The only serious thing I have now is my career.

Ceo: How do you cope with your fans, especially the ladies?
Demmy Blaze: They show me love, and I love them all. Sometimes it's difficult, but I know how to handle them.

Ceo: I heard one of your female fans saying "Demmy Blaze is a flirt, always admiring sexy ladies." What can you say about that?
Demmy Blaze: Ladies have a fragile heart and conclude quickly. They are the major audience for our music, so they love us and like to hang around us. Seeing any lady around me is not a reason to say I am a flirt. I just reciprocate the love shown to me.

Ceo: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Demmy Blaze: Only God knows. We are just human and don't know tomorrow, but I hope to be on top.

Ceo: On top as in?
Demmy Blaze: Maybe then I will be the most sought-after artist.

Ceo: Who are your role models?
Demmy Blaze: Beautiful Nubia.

Ceo: Most embarrassing moment as a musician?
Demmy Blaze: Performing a new single and making mistakes on stage, singing the song upside down.

Ceo: Most embarrassing moment socially?
Demmy Blaze: A blog comment saying I need to learn the rudiments of music.

Ceo: Most happiest moment in your career?
Demmy Blaze: When "Ayawa" hit 70,000 downloads on a blog and performing at a wedding that earned me a huge sum.

Ceo: How did your fiancée feel?
Demmy Blaze: She felt very cool.

Ceo: She must be proud of you.
Demmy Blaze: She is.

Ceo: What advice can you give to upcoming artists?
Demmy Blaze: Stick to what you know how to do and don't try to be anybody else.

Ceo: They should be themselves?
Demmy Blaze: Yes, that's it.

Ceo: Your first song was titled "ALOMO." What is it about?
Demmy Blaze: It's about promoting our indigenous things.

Ceo: Some say you are advertising for Alomo (a bitter drink).
Demmy Blaze: No, it's like a parable.

Ceo: Do you smoke and drink?
Demmy Blaze: No, I don't do either.

Ceo: But there was a time you were caught with a drink (alcohol) in your pictures?
Demmy Blaze: Yes, because all my friends do, and we are together.

Ceo: So you sometimes drink with them?
Demmy Blaze: I don't at all.

Ceo: Are you working on your album or any song?
Demmy Blaze: I am working on the "Ayawa" video and a new single. My album should be out next year.

Ceo: When next year should we expect your album?
Demmy Blaze: March.

Ceo: Nowadays, people are rushing into the music industry. Some songs are premature, while some are trying. What can you say about it?
Demmy Blaze: Well, 2face started somewhere, so everyone should try their best. Only God crowns efforts.

Ceo: Will you accept our invitation next time?
Demmy Blaze: Definitely, I will.

Ceo: Say something about your fans.
Demmy Blaze: I love them all. Without them, there's no me.

Ceo: We will be expecting good songs from you soon.
Demmy Blaze: Yes, sure.

Ceo: We heard you sang a song for the governor of Ondo State during the election campaign. What inspired you?
Demmy Blaze: His hard work. He has changed a lot of things in the state.

Ceo: Thank you for your patience and time spent with us.
Demmy Blaze: You're welcome.
