THE GREAT EBOLA VIRUS (EVD)

TIPS ON HOW TO AVOID CONTACTING EBOLA VIRUS.

The virus can be transmitted through direct contact with the blood or secretions of an infected person, or objects that have been contaminated with infected secretions.

Simple preventive measures are:
1.   Improvement on sanitary conditions – regular washing of hands with soap. Have a personal hand sanitizer and use it as frequently as possible
2.   Do not buy and eat any fruit directly without washing it very well  first
3.   For now, you might want to stay away from eating any meat whose source you may not know, especially our lovely “Suya” or “Bush Meat” from bats, apes and its families
4.   Also, try not to put your hands into your mouth when you have not washed with soap or sanitizer (for those of us that lick fingers, or chew nails, we need to consciously stop for now)
5.   Try and avoid unnecessary hand shaking, or immediately after, use your hand sanitizer
6.   Ebola can be spread through contact with body fluid - sweat or saliva, so take caution when you sit in a public transport system or talk in the public. Keep distance when taking/discussing with someone. Don’t  peck or kiss
7.   Generally, avoid having contact with body fluids and keep a distance when talking/discussing with someone
8.   Where your job entails contacts with a device which is free for all, please wear hand gloves
9.   Avoid holding hand rails or walls while in public places
10.       Prepare your meals by yourself, if possible.
11. After all that, conclude it with prayers to your God.

Symptoms include:
(a)                Internal and external bleeding
(b)               Vomiting
(c)                Diarrhea
(d)               Joint pains

Seek immediate medical advice/treatment, if any of these symptom(s) is/are observed.

Remember, prevention is better than cure.
